A Basic History Of The Corsets When you think of corsets, many people think of women as far back as the 16th century. The first of their kind used to be made of materials reinforced with things such as whale bones, ivory, wood or metal which is why it made for such a challenge to wear and would require a person to build up a stamina to them. They would most often come together at the back with tight lacing that you would often need assistance to ensure it has a snug enough fit. Though they are often thought of as something just to enhance appearance they are now often used in the medical field as a means of supporting the body following a number of medical procedures. Worn underneath the everyday clothing with materials that help reduce perspiration and eliminate toxins from the body as it heals itself. For some folks another popular use is for sexual fetishes.
